It is conceivable. The "Thieves World" books are on this premise - a world, written in conjunction with the stories mainly through more or less well-known authors in this genre. However, I think you should have some serious pull in the kind of participation. And of course, Star Trek novels are based on this premise. There are several books from other series with this model also, I think. I do not read.

If you need to successfully publish a few books - and I mean * very * effective, ie the best sellers in the genre - and then open the other world, wanted to write and publish books, it is likely that work. But the key to a world so convincing that people who buy books for the world itself (which is why the Star Trek franchise work) and not so concerned by the authors.

I personally, as an author who writes fantasy, not to participate. I prefer creating my own world - there are too many books because they are mainly found in the same world, although the authorsare completely separate.

But good luck to him.
